International Baccalaureate Mission Statement 

The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. 

To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

IB

The International Baccalaureate program coexists with Haines City High School's main campus.  In December of 2007 Haines City was approved as an IB World School and the first graduating class walked in June of 2010. 

There are nearly 2000 Diploma Programme schools in the world and 670 of those are in the United States as of June 2009, both numbers increase monthly.

The Diploma Program is completed during the 11th and 12th grades.  The 9th and 10th grades are designed to provide a solid foundation for which students can build upon.

Students work in six areas:

Language A: English

Language B: Choice of French, German, or Spanish

Individuals and Societies: History of the Americas, Psychology (elective)

Experimental Sciences: Choice of Biology or Chemistry

Mathematics: Choice of Math SL or Math Studies

Arts & Electives: Choice of Music, Visual Arts

In addition to the six subject areas students must complete the Theory of Knowledge course, an Extended Essay, and the Creativity, Action, and Service (C.A.S.) requirement.
